Femida Center for Civic and Legal Initiatives

Privacy Policy

Version of 29 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data the femida.org website collects, why, how we process it and what rights you have. We act in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Personal Data Protection”. This English version is provided for convenience; the Ukrainian version prevails.

1. Who processes your data

The data controller is the non-governmental organization “Center for Civic and Legal Initiatives “Femida”, EDRPOU code 37153285, address: office 141, 1/2 Borysa Hmyri St., Kyiv 02140, Ukraine.
Contact on personal data matters: femidaorg@ukr.net, +38 044 360 61 71.

2. What data we receive

  • Legal aid request: your name, phone number or messenger contact, and a description of your question. The description may include information about military service, health or family circumstances. Please share only what is needed for a first consultation.
  • Donations: the website does not collect or store payment card data. Payment takes place in your bank. We receive from the bank only what a bank statement contains (payer’s name, amount, payment purpose).
  • Visit data: which pages you viewed, approximate location (country, city), device and browser type, and where you came from. This data is collected by Google Analytics (see section 8). We see it only as aggregate statistics and do not link it to your name or request.
  • Technical data: when you visit the website, the hosting provider’s server automatically records your IP address and technical information about your browser in access logs.

3. Purposes and legal grounds

  • Reviewing your request, contacting you and providing free legal aid — based on your consent, which you give by ticking the box in the form. Health data and other sensitive data are processed only with your explicit consent (Article 7 of the Law).
  • Recording donations and reporting — based on the legislation on accounting and on non-profit organizations.
  • Analysing website traffic to understand which materials are useful and to improve the website — based on our legitimate interest. You can opt out of analytics (see section 8).
  • Keeping the website running and secure — based on our legitimate interest.

4. How we process data

Data from the request form is not stored in the website database: it is sent straight to the organization’s secure email. Only authorized team members who review requests and are bound by confidentiality have access to it. If an attorney is needed, attorney–client privilege applies to what you tell them.

5. Who may have access to data

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. Only the services the website cannot work without may have technical access to data: the website hosting provider (NIC.UA), the email service (ukr.net) and the web analytics service Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC). Google may process visit data on servers outside Ukraine, including in the United States.

We share information with partners, including Femida Legal Association, only when it is needed to provide you with legal aid and only with your consent. Public authorities may receive data only in the cases and in the manner expressly provided by law.

6. How long we keep data

Request data is kept as long as needed to provide help and no longer than 1 year after your last request, after which it is destroyed. Accounting documents on donations are kept for the periods set by law. Cookie retention periods are listed in section 8. You can ask us to delete your data earlier — see section 7.

7. Your rights

Under Article 8 of the Law, you have the right to:

  • know what data of yours we process, for what purpose and who has access to it;
  • access your data;
  • request correction of inaccurate data or its deletion;
  • object to processing and withdraw your consent at any time;
  • file a complaint with the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights or a court.

To exercise these rights, email us at femidaorg@ukr.net. We will reply within 30 calendar days.

8. Cookies and third-party services

The website uses the following cookies:

  • pll_language — remembers your chosen site language (Ukrainian or English). Kept for 1 year.
  • _ga and _ga_… — Google Analytics cookies used to count visits and tell new visitors from returning ones. Kept for up to 2 years.
  • WordPress technical cookies — set only for site administrators when they log in to the dashboard.

The website does not use advertising cookies.

To opt out of analytics, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s add-on that turns off Google Analytics on all websites: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The website will keep working fully.
